At the Red Baita

The Red Baita was a place in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It burned down during the wildfires in 2020.

we came to make caponata
and learned how to meditate
carefully turning
each side of each cube of eggplant
in the frying pan
delicious zen di melanzane in mason jars
preserve the present moment
for years to come
